ZOVU connects restaurant operations through one platform covering POS, reservations, loyalty, staff planning, and customer experiences.

Our revenue model is based on restaurant transactions rather than monthly software subscriptions. We are bootstrapped, with an MVP nearing completion and a remote team preparing for launch.

The opportunity

Build backend features used across multiple ZOVU applications.

This three-month internship is for someone who enjoys understanding business rules, designing dependable APIs, and keeping data consistent. Your work may support orders, inventory, reservations, loyalty, or payments, depending on priorities and your experience.

What you will work on

• Implement and maintain TypeScript/Express APIs.
• Model data and develop queries with PostgreSQL and Prisma.
• Enforce authentication, permissions, and tenant/location boundaries.
• Build business logic with validation and clear error handling.
• Handle retries and concurrent requests safely.
• Investigate problems across API logs, database records, and application events.
• Add tests and documentation that make changes easier to review and maintain.

Our relevant stack

Node.js, TypeScript, Express, Prisma, PostgreSQL, Socket.IO, and Google Cloud Run within a product monorepo.

What we are looking for

• A backend project you personally built using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Understanding of relational data, SQL, and API design.
• Familiarity with validation, authentication, authorization, and error handling.
• Ability to explain database transactions and why they matter.
• Practical Git experience and a structured approach to debugging.
• Clear written English and reliable asynchronous communication.

Prisma experience is preferred, but sound SQL and ORM fundamentals matter more than memorizing a particular API. Flutter experience is not required.

Useful additional experience

Multi-tenant systems, payment APIs, idempotency, database migrations, queues, WebSockets, integration tests, or external repository contributions.

How we work

The internship lasts three months, targeting 32 hours per week. State your actual availability and start date in your application.

You will own meaningful work through scoped changes and technical review. A continuing role may be discussed depending on performance, business needs, and funding; conversion is not guaranteed.
